Was stationed with
VAQ-136 at NAS Whidbey Island 1980. Went to Japan with them, and
was TAD to Cubi Point when the Midway had the accident. Met my
wife while serving in VAQ-136. Thank you to a great command. |

I was an original
member of VAQ-136 stationed out of Whidbey Island and had the USS
Kitty Hawk for our carrier. From Dec 1972-1975 I was an engine
mech and plane captain on plane 604 EA6B. |

Great site Troy!!! I
was a Gauntlet 89-92, AME shop and CCC. Good to read the entries
from former shipmates. Has anyone heard from PN1 Aubrey "Bob"
Gittens who worked in admin? I heard that the SEAL Team is still
looking for YN3 Eater to assist him with his tattoo. I hope that
MN is treating you well, I had to leave because it was to for me
to stay. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Ed Rogers, and all the other
Gauntlets who celebrated Thanksgiving in the dorms. |

Came across your site while
researching a question about the Midway. Great site. You have done a
wonderful job of compiling material about Midway, CVW-5 and the great
people who served on board. I was the C.O. of VAQ-136 when we moved from
Whidbey to Midway in Feb 1980. Unfortunately, I wasn't on board very long,
but I did enjoy the short time I was there. Best regards. |

Troy, Put down a few with you
in those days. AO3 at the time. Served with you from 88-92 in AO shop.
Only have limited contact with shipmates (Swanson, Wells, to name two).
You have done something wonderful here with this site, would love to send
some copies of old pic's for you to add to the site. Need to track down
Master Chief Jones. Still remember to this day Lt. Medve picking nose and
wiping it on cockpit while arming. She was a great ship, I do miss her
often. No sailor young or old (WW2 guys excluded) could ever understand
what it meant to be a "Neverdock" crewman. Saw her in 98 in Bremerton, but
could not get on. Sure look forward to getting to San Dog to see her
again. T. Thurgood was the man. All you PG Vets from 136 get in touch and
lets get together again. Selnick and Feldkamp - UMPQUA! |
