Troy,
I'm an old Gauntlet pilot from '89-'91 off Midway and currently CO of VT-9 in Meridian, MS. You've done a remarkable job here with this beautiful web-site. Those really were special times and it was AWESOME to be a part of the VAQ-136/Midway team. It was a pleasure serving with you. Semper Gauntlets and UMPQUA forever!

It is with great sadness that I am announcing the passing of AMS2 Gary Marotta a few months ago.

Gary was in the Gauntlet Air Frames Shop and a Flight Deck Troubleshooter from 1989 ~ 1991. Prior to being assigned to VAQ-136, he served tours with VA-115 and NAF Atsugi AIMD. After leaving the Gauntlets in 1991, Gary served another tour with NAF Atsugi AIMD.

Gary was retired and living in the Virginia/Washington, DC area with his wife and son.

It was my privilege to know and serve with Gary, both in VAQ-136 and then at NAF Atsugi AIMD.

Gary was a good friend and although we will miss him, he will always live on in our memories.

~ My thanks to Kurt Elder for informing us.

I was attached to VAQ-136 from 1994-1998 as an AME. We were attached to the INDY and later the Kitty Hawk and had some of the best times and cruises. I have converted to MAA but there are times when I miss the Airedale Community.

Troy,

You’ve done an amazing job on this web site. You’re keeping a lot of memories alive.

I was in VAQ-136 from March 90 to March 92. I did some TAD time on the FOD team and I spent some time on board ship with First Lt. Most of my work was done in the AE shop. I miss guys like Mark Munden, Dave Clark, Kevin Click, “Potis” Porter, “Speedy”, Master Chief Jones, Gilbert Cerda, AD2 Perry, PR3 (I forgot your name), Line shack dude with red hair, Seal Team “V” Randy T. Eater, “Camper” Feldkamp.

I work at HP in Corvallis Oregon with Jeff Hess and Ayers. Small world.

Great site. I was an AD3 in the P/P shop when the squadron transferred over from Whidbey to the Midway. I was part of the maint. det for the 4 Aircraft during the transpac. Whidbey to Alameda to Hawaii to Wake Island and on to Atsugi. Long trip. I was lucky, flew on the C9 instead of the C130 with the spare J52. That was 1980.

Prince-
GREAT JOB! The site is awesome. I was researching the move of the old girl down to San Diego and came across your site. You may not remember me, I was in my last year of three when you came on board. Worked the flight deck as Avionix troubleshooter before I trained the now famous Airman Clements. When I left, the war started and the HARMs were finally launched. I was the first squadron HARM team leader as an AT and had a blast with all my friends in the Galantes`. I remember you distinctively because of that crazy cat tattoo. Tell all my boys from the roof: Perry, Lekovich, the stuttering chief?, Swanny, Clements, Schilling, the cigar chewing Safety/QA/AT1, and everyone else I forgot, HELLO from Geno in Sacramento.
