THIS IS A DRILL, GENERAL QUARTERS, GENERAL QUARTERS....DUDE, THIS SITE ROCKS!!! What's up GAUNTLETS !!!

Troy, send me a reply to my email. Some of you will know me as AME3 Ward, but most of you will remember me as HODJI. I was onboard from 87'-91'. Did some TAD here and there, but most of my experience was in the AME SHOP. Ya'll know where that was. We had the kick ass A/C. When I first got there it was AME1 LAMM, GUTIERREZ, WEINERT and me. Omg, Lamm was a hard-ass. There was another AME, but he was permanent TAD to the LOX FARM. LOL, his name was POPHAM I believe. I heard stories of him, but the one that sticks out in my mind was the one where he got so mad he stabbed one of the planes with a screwdriver!!! I think that is when the C.O. awarded him with the coveted LOX billet, lol.

Anyways, I now live with JAMES CIOLCOSZ (AT SHOP) and his family in Madison Wisconsin. Btw, WEINERT lives in Wisconsin as well. I recall a lot of names on here and this seems like the right place to see if any of you GAUNTLETS would like to have a get together sometime. I've been wanting to do that for the longest time but didn't have the correct venue to do it. But this site seems like the best chance to get some of you together again. Too bad we can't do it in P.I. eh?? Man that RED HORSE taste is still in the back of my throat along with some of that crazy BULLFROG they used to throw together. WOW, talk about memory lane.

TROY, you really outdid yourself, ya limey bastard. Congratulations on this site. It fricken rocks!!! If anyone wants to email me don't hesitate. We aren't getting any younger ya know. LOL

PARTY ON GAUNTLETS!!!

P.S. Anyone know what happened to AME2 BARNETT or AME2 McGUNNES??

Troy,

What a cool website. Brings back some memories. I was an ECMO in 136 from Dec 91 - Dec 93. I'm now a high school math teacher (still in the reserves). Also neat to see some names I hadn't heard in a while. I will try to send you scans of a few things I have including an UMPQUA Challenge Coin (which I still carry with me) and the EA-6B model box which has a photo of Larry Stack, Bret Carroll, and me on it, taken the day we got back from cruise.

I am currently living in Southern Spain. I was stationed in Rota, Spain from 92-96.

I was on the USS Midway from Oct. 1999 to our ship transfer to the USS Independence in Hawaii some time late 2001. I was PR3 Malphurs. VAQ-136 was my squadron. Liked the places we went to. Many memories. Long time at sea, but Thailand was a blast. Good to see you shipmate. Our beloved ship is a museum in San Diego. Hope to hear from you. Take care.

I was a Gauntlet from Apr 85 to Aug 88. I was also in AIMD Atsugi 500 Division Aug 88 to Sept 91. Gary Marotta was my supervisor in AIMD. This website is one of the best.

Our son, Joe, has been an ECMO with VAQ-136 since January of 2004. We enjoyed a great visit to Atsugi and Yokosuka over the 2004 Christmas & New Years holidays. We visit the site often looking for updates. Keep up the good work maintaining the site and our best to the men and women of a great squadron defending our nation's interests in WESTPAC.

Hi Mr. and Mrs. Kato,

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Japan and I want to thank you for your comments.

Gauntlet material for the site is difficult to find, but I'm always keeping an eye out for new photos and material. I have a lot of EA-6B Prowler photos stored for uploading, but I need more guys to send in their VAQ-136 photos and memorabilia. Please keep checking back often, as I do run across material to update this section with.

Great site! The Gauntlets is an outstanding squadron though I definitely don't miss the endless days at sea! If people only knew the incredible demands endured and sacrifices made by members of a carrier embarked tactical squadron...

I'm the DO (XO for you Navy types) of a USAF squadron. Whenever any of my guys bitch about deployments I not so gently let them know that there's a whole lot more rear aspect pain associated with being at sea. My greatest respect to all of my fellow Gauntlet alums. I sometimes wear a Prowler on my flight suit, just because.

BZ on a great site!

VAQ-136 ECMO from 1989-1992, now living in Bellingham, WA working as a structural engineer. From time to time I think of that old Midway Magic and all the great people that made it what it was. Any Gauntlets out there? Drop me an e-mail.
