Awesome site dude. I talked to Ed Rogers yesterday for a couple hours. I keep in touch with Doug Brake as well. Also Todd Lemaire. I was there from 91-93. I worked in the Powerplants shop with Mr. Ed. I was the only airman in the shop for the '92 deployment so you can imagine what it was like. Still had a great time.

Hey to all the fellow Gauntlets out there. This is AM3 James Mines aka: Squirrel. Served in Airframes shop from Feb. 98 - June 01. The whole time I was in I couldn't wait to get out, but looking back now, I miss all the running around and even the pack outs. I'd almost give my left leg for one more day on the flight deck, just nothing like it. As you can see by my email address, the claw still has a firm hold on me. Ha Ha. If anyone was stationed on the Indy or Kitty at the same time as me give me a shout.

I'm not sure if you will remember me but I was AK2 David Webster. I was assigned to AIMD Material Control from Dec 1991 - Jan 1996. I was running the Tool Control Program there. Anyways what are you up to these days? Nice pics. Bring back a lot of memories. Any information on people like Dana Holzknecht or Dave Gonzales?

Hello all, spent a lot of time with 136 started in the line shack with Tony Harriston, Big Bubba Banks to name a few, Buzz Sawyer was the sup. back then. I was there 1983-86, 1989-1992 and 2002-2005 when I retired. Sure can't remember having too many bad times back then we all worked hard and played hard...PI, Pattaya...great times. I work in Camp Zama now...for the Army of all things. Well feel free to drop me a line any time. Hope to hear from some of you.

I have great memories for this squadron from 1981 - 1985. Best years of my life, but lost touch with all shipmates when I left the navy in 93.

I was in VAQ-136 AE shop from 1990-1992. I really had a great time working and playing with all you crazy bastards. I was reminiscing the other day about the time when we were prepping for Desert Shield and we pulled into Abu Dhabi for four days of liberty. The only way you could stay overnight was to put in a request chit and only 25% of the people were allowed the overnight pass. So Paul Bean and I and bunch of other guys ended up drinking at this bar on the beach. It was Christmas Eve and some American ex-pats paid the bar tender to stay open until 1am. The ex-pats paid for all our drinks while we hung out singing Christmas Carols. The only problem was that I didn’t have a chit to stay the night and neither did Bean so we ended up staying in a hotel and talked to my wife until all hours as Bean slept off the free liquor. We got back to the ship at 0630 so we could be on time for duty, but we didn’t realize (think) that the crew would report us since it was in the morning (oh! to be 19 again). So we ended up going to Capt. Mast with 150 other sailors.

Served in the Gauntlets as a pilot from 1979 and flew one of the aircraft (with "then" LT Rick Porritt) on the very first TransPac to join USS Midway in Japan. Got stuck on Wake Island several days because it was snowing heavily in Atsugi. Lots of great memories from '79-'82. Outstanding website.
