EA-6C Prototype Revealed!
A recently declassified photo of the EA-6C prototype, the
development of which has been
abandoned due to the selection of the EA-18G Growler as the
follow-on to the Prowler.
I can't imagine the pilot
doing a radio check and waiting forever to hear back from ECMOs four
through eleven and what looks like a tail gunner. Can you imagine if they
all used their relief tubes at the same time? Talk about raining on
someone's parade! Seriously, the EA-18G Growler is now
on its way to becoming the Prowler replacement. This picture has
reportedly been making the rounds of the Prowler community, but I hadn't
seen it until it was sent to me by Brian Murphy, the father of a pilot
with the Lancers of VAQ-131.
EA-6C Modifications
With the EA-18G Super Hornet/Growler currently in project
development,
the EA-6C program has been cancelled. All modified aircraft have
had their
center sections and tail gunners removed and redesignated as
EA-6B.
Please Help!!!
If you have any pictures of the EA-6B Prowler you would like to share with others, I would very much like to include them here. Scans of photos would be the best way for submission. However, if you don't have access to a scanner, snail mail is always an option and anything received would most definitely be returned to the sender. Full credit will always be given to the owner of photos. If you have something you think would enhance these galleries, please don't hesitate to contact me.
